(This is a bit of a milestone for The Ruminator: It’s the tenth Rumination!)

Every passing day we human beings pride ourselves on the level of intelligence we have achieved/developed compared to say a hundred years ago. But, given the way intelligence is used by the corporate world to maximise profits and downsize the labour force, I [...]

    • Making the Art of Lying Into a Virtue

Most of the problems the world faces today are caused by lying through the teeth. Though every religion tells us that we should be honest by not telling lies, we see the exact opposite happening in every aspect of our lives. When we are toddlers we are warned not to be naughty otherwise the policeman [...]

      • The past 100 years we human beings have made tremendous strides in inventing things that have made our lives more pleasurable. Last month I completed 56 years of my eventful and mostly satisfying life, the satisfaction coming mostly in the latter years. As I now realise that years left for me on this wonderful planet have remarkably reduced I have begun to wonder at the ingenuity of a select few in enriching themselves at the expense of the rest of the world population.

To me the three biggest reasons for ruining this wonderful world are Politics, Religion and the Global monetary system. Let me start with the Global Monetary System. Over 90% of the world’s countries resort to deficit financing which, in simple terms, means they spend more than what they earn. To cover the deficit they issue Bonds which are guaranteed by the respective governments. These bonds are picked up by the very rich and the various funds. The biggest culprits are the developed countries of the world (read the West). Let me give you an example of the U.S.A.. Last year US Govt bonds in circulation totalled $ 4,348.00 Billion. Of these $ 2,917.00 Billion was held by foreign non-US entities. That means roughly 70% of the US deficit is funded by other countries ( including China and the middle east and maybe some enemy countries). That means the U.S.of A. is literally enjoying all the best facilities at the cost of the rest of the world! Most of the developed countries deliberately give a slightly higher interest for the bonds than what the banks offer so the individual is compelled to invest in these bonds. But what nobody is made aware of is the fact that these bonds are used for unproductive purposes such as the huge bureaucracy and the armed forces. So, in effect the whole world is running on investment of the common individual without any accountability.

What about the biggest corporations of the world. Is there any way to verify the huge profit claims? Because the choice for selecting their auditors is left purely to the respective company. If the auditors refuse to listen to the company’s dictates then they can be removed. Based on doctored profits many companies’ shares are artificially inflated upwards, thus enabling the companies to gain access to interest free funds by way of follow on IPOs (at huge premiums) and convertible debentures. Contrary to the the commonly held belief, the major corporations of the world get access to low or nil interest loans while the common individual gets literally screwed by high interest! The highest interest rates are charged on home loans and credit cards which is availed of by a major part of the world population. The super rich 10% of the world’s population are so rich that they never require to use home loans and credit.

Another con game is the stock market. Shares of most companies are traded at many times the book value simply because the supply being cornered by the major mutual and equity funds of the world.
The major mutual fund companies are able the control the sale and purchase price of shares. That is why you will notice that every six months the stock markets the world over crash. The so called stock market experts will blame it on something or the other to justify the crash but this is actually a ruse to enable them to buy shares at lower values.

So where does politics and religion come into this con-triangle? The super rich of the world do not want to waste their time in running countries and huge populations, so they invented politics and politicians. The huge funds available with the mega corporations and the rich are used to lobby (read bribe) the politicians to make laws that benefit them so that they can get back their lobbying costs many times over. It suits the mega corporations and big investers because they know that politicians can only make bad economic decisions for political ends like protecting their vote banks. All the countries of the world print their currency backed by the gold reserves that they hold. But is there any international authority to really verify the gold holdings? The USA is supposedly holding the largest gold reserves at Fort Knox, but has it been verified? Close to 90% of the world’s population constitutes the average common individual, whose only alternative for a decent house and good food is to borrow at high interest rates. Banks and Governments encourage you to borrow so that you will be enslaved for life to repay the loans.

Most people cannot cope up mentally with the rigors of survival and they begin to think why they have so little compared to the lavish lifestyles of the rich and the powerful. This is where religion has been brought in. All the religious books of the world have been written by human beings so they cannot be objective. Most religions convieniently use the “matter of faith” concept to explain unproven facts like life after death. Most religions are unable to solve present problems of the world so they thrive solely on the concept that the next life of the individual can be better if you bear the sufferings in this life. Why then do all the religious heads and priests live in comforatble houses and palaces? Why do all religions accept donations from their devotees when they can use their claimed access to thier respective gods for survival?

The point I am trying to make is that the world would have been such a comfortable and satisfying place to exist in, if there were no governments, no corporations and no religion. There would be no necessity for preparing for a non-existent after life when you can have perfectly good life while alive.

How do I intend to spend the remaining few years of my life? Enjoying the gift of life by reading more, thinking more, eating well at home, minding my own business and living within my means without borrowing.

THE END. I hope you enjoyed that. If you'd like to read more, there's plenty available in the archives
